The Railway Statistics Act of 1875 required all railways to provide detailed statistical reports on an annual basis to the Department of Railways and Canals with a reporting period from July 1 to June 30 of the following year. The reporting period was changed to calendar year in 1919. In the same year, the Dominion Bureau of Statistics assumed responsibility for these reports. A statistical compliation on the CPR for the years 1923 to 1948 published by the D.B.S. can be found in the CPR Statistical Reports page.
