CPR ordinary shares were first listed on the London Stock Exchange in early 1883, shortly after they were first listed on the New York Stock Exchange. As London was the Global Financial Capital of the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, CPR raised most of its capital requirements in London during theis period with the issuance of numerous new issues of ordinary and preference stock, debenture stock and land and mortgage bonds.
